Going home! At the time of writing I'm waiting in another airport (Boston). Mom, Dad, and little sister have left me in the corner to guard the bags. I can't wait to be home again!
The vacation was alright, I guess. It was nice seeing my grandparents again.
My grandfather, like my dad, is deaf in one ear. As you can imagine, this leads to some very interesting conversations. Like, for example, the time they were telling us about the time they went to this nature preserve. It's frusterating at the time, but looking back, it was pretty funny.
Me: "Did you ever find out what the plural form of moose is? I think it's just moose (one moose, two moose) but can you say mooses?"
Granddad:"..."
Me, a bit louder: "You know, mooses?"
Granddad still can't hear me. He knows I'm saying something, just not what.
Me: "MOOSE! WHAT IS THE PLURAL FORM OF MOOSE!?!"
Then the Chinese couple sitting next to us gave me a funny look. That was it for the moose-related discussion.

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
Without ever having felt sorry for itself.
